Self Care IPL Acne Treatments
You can avoid or control most acne with good basic skin
care and the following self-care techniques:
- Try
acne lotion to dry excess oil and promote peeling. Products containing benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol or salicylic
acid as the active ingredient can help reduce acne.
- Wash
problem areas with a gentle cleanser.
Alternate remedies such as facial scrubs, astringents and masks are not
recommended because they tend to irritate skin, which can aggravate acne.
Excessive washing and scrubbing also have the same effects. If you tend to
develop acne around your hairline, shampoo your hair frequently.
- Avoid
irritants. You may want to avoid oily or
greasy cosmetics, sunscreens, hair-styling products or acne concealers.
Use products labelled "water-based" or
"noncomedogenic." In some instances, the sun may worsen acne. As
a result, try to avoid the sun and use sunscreen.
- Watch
what touches your face. Try to avoid
objects touching your face. This includes your hair, hands and other
foreign objects. Such contact has the effect of increasing the level of
dirt and oil activity on your face.
- Don't
pick or squeeze blemishes. Picking or
squeezing can cause infection or scarring. Most acne will clear up without
this kind of intervention.
