Brief Overview of Broken Capillaries
Many people have broken capillaries or veins ( also known as broken vessels or red veins) they would like to reduce. Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments can provide an effective broken capillary and vein treatment, as well as being a solution to broken blood vessels.

Over time, little red veins on the nose, chin or cheeks become more noticeable. In addition, wavy, thin reddish-purplish veins become increasingly visible on the legs, often clustered on the thigh or below the knee.

Capillaries or facial veins will affect as many as 60% of all women and a large proportion of men. In the past, there was little you could do about broken capillaries and veins. However, Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technologies have revolutionised treatment so that capillaries and veins could be erased.
About Broken Capillaries and Veins
Broken Capillaries are enlarged blood vessels that have widened due to a weakness in the vein wall or a problem with the valves that control the flow of blood. Broken veins are the small, superficial purple or red veins stretching like a web under the skin. Overexposure to the sun is believed to contribute to the dilation of these veins, especially those found on the face.

Broken Capillaries and Vein Solutions
Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology enables the therapist to collapse the vein and broken capillary without doing any damage to the surrounding outer layers of skin. The wavelength discharged through the pulse of the laser enables the light to reach the targeted veins under the skin, whilst also improving the overall appearance of the skin by evening out skin tone and encouraging the production of collagen.

Benefits of Laser and IPL Capillary removal

Intense Pulse Light  and laser offer a solution that:

  • Minimises or eliminates the appearance of capillaries
  • Treats the entire face, not only small spots
  • Causes little discomfort
  • Offers an immediate return to routine activities
  • Provides gradual, natural-looking improvement
  • Produces long-lasting results

Until now there were very few options, if any, for capillary removal. Clients often schedule appointments during their lunch hour and have the freedom to return to routine activites.

What to Expect of the Treatment for Broken Capillaries?
The IPL capillary removal treatment can take between 5- 20 minutes, depending on the surface area being targeted. Clients are given a complimentary consultation where one of our qualified therapists will give a treatment course to suit individual capillary concerns. The treatment involves simply lying on a comfortable bed while the appropriate technology is customised with pulse depths and settings. The skin is cleansed and in some cases, a local anaesthetic cream is applied. During the treatment, a prickling sensation can be felt with medium-paced, concentrated pulsating beams of light. These beams of light penetrate to  well below the surface layer of skin and in the epidermal layer, effectively targeting the capillary. Immediately after the treatment, redness and swelling may occur which will subside within 24 hours.
Results after Treatment

Laser and IPL effectively clear most broken capillaries and veins in two to six treatments. Dramatic changes in the appearance of the vessel will occur, turning into a light red colour. Bulging may occur but any inflammation will subside within two hours. Redness in the treated vein will reduce within 1 to 5 weeks depending on it’s severity.
