What is a Chemical Skin Peel?
A Chemical Skin Peel is a safe, effective skin treatment that targets new skin cell regeneration. It works by applying a very mild, thin chemical layer on the skin for a specified period of time (depending on the acid used and depending what is being targeted) which ultimately penetrates through the pores and dermal layer of the skin. The chemical causes the old, dead skin cells to shrivel and flake off and what you are left with is a new layer of smoother, younger looking skin.
Who is a suitable candidate for a Chemical Skin Peel?
The majority of people are suitable for Chemical Skin Peels. Results laser clinic offers treatments for all skin types, and whilst in the past Chemical Skin Peels were not available to clients with darker skin, now we use the latest and safest chemical treatments to ensure that all clients can be treated. In order to prepare clients for treatments, your clinical therapist may ask you to prepare your skin by using other medications, such as Retin-A, Renova, or glycolic acid. Your free consultation will identify which of the five available peels is right for you.

Is being in the sun during and after chemical peel treatments going to affect my results in any way?
Since ultraviolet light is likely to cause further damage to your skin, it is vital that you use sun protection to prevent damage to the new skin during and after your chemical peel treatments. A broad spectrum SPF 30+ is recommended.
What happens in a chemical skin peel procedure?
Your therapist will ask you a series of questions, assess your consultation forms and conduct a skin analysis to determine what course of treatment is for you. You may be asked to also prepare for treatment by using products with AHAs at least one week prior to treatment. During the treatment, you will lie on a comfortable bed while your face is cleansed and prepared for chemical peel treatment. A solution designed specifically for your skin concern will be applied readily and consistently for a certain amount of time. Once the time is up, the solution will be thoroughly removed with water and followed with moisturiser. For a couple of days post treatment, your skin may feel slightly irritated and flaking may also result. Redness or swelling will resolve within two week as new skin emerges.
Are Results Laser Clinic Chemical Skin Peels safe?
Absolutely! There are only a few side effects associated with the Chemical Skin Peel treatment. Redness, swelling and irritation normally subside with a few hours and there is no downtime. Work, social activities and physical activity can also be resumed immediately after treatments. The chance of complication increases with a deeper chemical treatment, but are still rare. They include pigmentary changes, infections, burns and scarring. If preparation guidelines or instructions are provided by your therapist, ensure these are adhered to in order to prevent any side effects or complications from occurring.
How many Chemical Skin Peels will I require to achieve desirable results?
You should see some results after the first treatment, however a series of six peels is recommended in order to get maximum results. Each individual is different, and therefore ongoing maintenance will vary case by case. Your clinical therapist should be able to advise you on approximate follow up treatment requirements based on your skin’s condition at the time of consultation.
How long will the benefits of the treatment last?
Results will vary and ultimately this will depend on the individual and their skin type. Of course, factors that contribute to the future need for Chemical Skin Peels are determined by the depth of the peel treatments you had, combined with how much sun expose you endure. Generally speaking, the effects of your peel treatment (once the course of 6 is completed) should last about 2-5 years. The more you protect your skin from sun exposure the longer the benefits of the treatment will last. In some circumstances, shorter follow up treatments may be needed (yearly) however this is circumstantial based on the individual’s needs.
